Rebecca Kern is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). She is also a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (CASDCS), with specialized expertise in understanding the functions of behavior and delivering Person- Centered, Trauma-informed care.

Here is a little bit about me…

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for more than 15 years, working with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and related conditions. My approach is rooted in compassion, clinical insight, and a deep understanding of behavioral function, which allows me to tailor interventions that promote meaningful growth and independence.

I am also a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, equipping me to support aging individuals and their families with informed, empathetic care.

Before entering the counseling field, I spent 7 years as a special education teacher in Humble ISD, working with elementary aged students. These experiences- spanning both childhood and adulthood- have shaped my holistic and individualized approach to service delivery, ensuring that each person receives support aligned with strengths, needs, and goals.

On a personal note, I have been married to my best friend and greatest supporter, Kevin for 32 years. We are proud parents to two adult daughters, Jessica and Emily, and share our home with a lively crew of dogs, cats and birds. I am passionate about nature, geology, travel, reading, and cooking- and I have a deep affection for all creatures (with the exception of insects)!

Above all, I find immense joy in helping those I serve. Witnessing individuals apply what they have learned in counseling to enrich their daily lives is the most rewarding part of my work.

I look forward to learning more about you and supporting your journey.
